Alex Guinn Rock Choc Cast

I choose to create a simple candy bar that was modern and fun. The intended audience was KU students and thus my design made a chocolate related pun to the classic KU cheer. Rock Chalk to Rock Choc.
The simple design allowed for an easy removal, unfortunately it turned out to be not so easy. I ended up decreasing the mold walls to allow for flex. I found that 1/16" was optimal. The mold ended up bending similar to a flexible icecube tray.

The most upsetting point was transporting the chocolate bar after molding. The removal went well (I only lost parts of 3 letters ) but went down hill after the bar started to return to room temperature. microwaving the choclate was mistake in that I think it changes the bonds and properties. My chocolate became soft and fell apart at room temp.

I like this project in that we learned about how to make mold, design in CAD, and how to 3D print.
